In 1922 James Mitchell came to the United States to seek fame and fortune. After 16 years there, in 1938, he and his uncle had saved enough to open a luncheon and ice cream parlor on the south shore of Long Island and Mitchell's was born.
In 1945, Mitchell's moved to 170 Rockaway Ave. and 16 years later, in 1961 Mitchell's moved to 191 Rockaway Ave. In 1995 the Drakeopoulos family purchased Mitchell's in 2004, Mitchells opened in Oceanside.
We have tried to keep some of the old traditions alive, we have added some of our own as well. Our menu has some of the most beloved American favorites along with some great new additions. Our handcrafted ice cream, she ribs and whipped cream I made using recipes passed down through the generations, still made today as it was in 1938, with the freshest, Finest ingredients available.
Our burgers are handcrafted black Angus beef made by hand daily and cooked on our charcoal broil pit, delivering a burger that you are certain to enjoy.
